Two inclusive ECDE centers at Ahero, and Awasi offer free, safe spaces for over 200 children, including orphans and vulnerable individuals. Supervised by qualified teachers, the program helps retain children who might otherwise drop out due to economic and societal challenges. The secure environment promotes social behavior, physical health, creativity, and overall growth, enhancing cognitive, social, and emotional well-being skills.CIVS Kenya initiated a feeding program at Ahero Resource Center, providing daytime meals to the school-going orphans and vulnerable children. The program improves well-being, school performance, food security, boosting enrollment, reducing absenteeism, and household food security.

Rural areas with low purchasing power and poor income often experience higher poverty indexes due to high HIV/AIDS prevalence, floods, and droughts. The death of a parent can lead to family breakdown, leaving children without social support, resources, and adequate food. This leads to nutrition deficiency, increased susceptibility to diseases, and reduced school attendance, resulting in advanced dropout rates.
